Naturopathy believes that all the diseases arise due to accumulation of morbid matter in the body and if such matter is removed by some means, it paves the way for cure or relief. It also believes that the human body has inherent self-constructing and self-healing powers. Naturopathy was practiced in ancient Greece (400 BC). Dr Benedict Lust is considered to be the founder of modern-day naturopathy who practiced the art of natural healing and introduced it in the US in 1892. Dr Lust established the American School of Naturopathy in 1902.

Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine where natural medicines are used for healing. It uses a holistic approach to cure an illness. Naturopathy looks at illness as a form of healing. Its focus is always on healing and health rather than the disease.

Some people might think that aromatherapy is replacing traditional medicine. Although it is an alternative method of practicing wellbeing, let it be known here and now that aromatherapy is in no way a replacement for modern medicine. Instead, see it as a tool that helps enhance your wellbeing both physically and psychologically using scents to stimulate certain responses. When performing aromatherapy, your goal should be to use the essential oils to shift your mental state and assist your body's natural ability to regulate, heal, and balance itself.

Reflexology? Ever heard of it? Neither had I until I ran into a site put up by Bill Flocco, director and founder of the American Academy of Reflexology. It apparently is a site for pain relief and is responsible for giving you a deep sense of relaxation.

Reflexology This process is based on the idea that injury or disease in one part of the body can cause a buildup of substance that irritates nerve endings in reflex points in the feet, hands and ears.

Thus, reflexing - applying pressure on and gentile manipulation at the points of the feet, hands and ears - corresponds to and helps specific areas of the body.

The reflexes in the fingers and toes correspond to the head and neck. For best results massage these reflex points for five to ten minutes at least twice a day and at least four times a week. Sometimes relief will come quickly, or it can take several days, weeks or longer for reflexology to help.
